Changes in MDREN Board Leadership and Member Category

The MDREN board will experience changes in leadership at the top in July 2024. Ken Kundell (Salisbury University) will complete his term, and Thomas Smith (Coppin State University) will step in as board chair. Thomas has been in the role of Vice Chair for the past two years. Thomas is the Deputy CIO at Coppin. The board is in the process of filling the Vice Chair role. Jennell Sargent, CIO from St. Mary’s College, will thankfully continue as Secretary of the board.

Several member campuses have been with MDREN for many years and have made significant financial contributions. In accordance with the bylaws and a recent board vote, they will now have a full voting seat on the MDREN board as Principal Members. These member campuses include the Community College of Baltimore County, Prince George’s Community College, Anne Arundel Community College, Chesapeake College Morgan State University, and St. Mary’s College of Maryland. General Members include Loyola University, the United States Naval Academy, and Washington College. General Members will select their voting board member from amongst themselves.

It should be noted that all members are welcome to attend MDREN board meetings. The next full board meeting will be on October 4th. A notice will be coming out regarding this meeting.
