MDREN will be using the Fortra GoAnywhere tool to enable researchers to move large data files to colleagues, cloud repositories (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, etc.), or High-Performance Computing Centers (HPC). The tool will be funded by the NSF grant obtained by MDREN.
Bowie State University has been using GoAnywhere to integrate Peoplesoft data with third-party providers’ software and with other internal systems. The tool provides secure encrypted file transfer capability and allows scheduling, and detailed logging. It’s really a “Swiss army knife” for file transfer and management. As some campuses plan to move to Workday or the Oracle Cloud, this could be a great solution to set up the transfer and document the process. It’s free to MDREN members. Most campuses are integrating with dozens of third-party software providers. This could make life easier and more manageable.
If you would like access and an orientation to the tool, contact Brad Bothun at bbothun@usmd.edu .
